Hi Ahmed Talu,
I sent you a private message but apparently that feature doesn't work :(
Are you an administrator? Or a addicted member of this forum :)
Actually I got two questions for you :
1/ my database has been stuck for 1 month (I can't detach/attach) . I tried everything, in vain. The admin doesn't reply my begging requests on this forum
2/ how did you get 60 MB? I've been a member for almost 2 years, I keep maintaining my website, I post replies in here, I have a link to aspspider.net on every single pages of my website... and I can't get an extra bit lol
Thanks if you can cheer me up! I'm loosing my friends because they can't post on my website anymore :(

I received your message weeks ago but haven't had a good opportunity to embark on an answer (I even have a question from last year from another user still waiting in the forum). Your message was nearly lost by the way since it was catched by a spam filter for some reason. I intended to respond in another thread but since you posted this thread then I'll do it here.
*************************************************
I remember well your request for increased webspace back in 2006 (second request I think). It came at a time when ASPSPIDER seemed to have so few websites left that the remaining websites was being consolidated with contents from the other branches of the business that ASPSPIDER is part off. I remember I tried to observe if you were given the diskspace you asked for when ASPSPIDER again expanded. I had the impression that you were very disappointed. To me it seemed like you were avoiding the forum thereafter. Your reduced forum activity (if that was indeed the case) may have been very unfortunate (at least I suspect so). I do not know if this was the reason/part of the reason though (only ASPSPIDER knows that).
*************************************************
I have noticed the appearance of a rule against sites with large pictures. Now, I guess the WEBMASTER will be somewhat leanient towards content that was allowed at the time of uploading, but i'm not so sure he accept files of exceessive size. I do not know how big your picture files are but if there is more than one large picture in a webpage then they effectively acts as one large download when the page is viewed. As for the 2MB total size limit that has appeared then I do not for sure how to interpret it (I could make a guess, ..but then your guess could be as good as mine).
Now, webhosts have access to logfiles and may know things about a website that I wouldn't know even if I tried to look at the website. In the event that you have used the website for purposes that is not allowed then that obviously could make ASPSPIDER unwilling to follow up.
*************************************************
As for SQL database then I believe you have more knowledge than me about that topic. I do believe those using databases ought to have a way of disabling access to it some minutes before doing any attach/detach operations. My idea would have been to do it through a variable (true/false) in the software. However, your suggestion about changing the connection string (
http://www.aspspider.net/qa/Question3139.aspx
? ) may do the thing (though I would rather have REMOVED the connection string in order to ensure that no attempts of SQL connection related to the website would occur).
*************************************************
How to obtain increased webspace?
ASP.NET code is obviously desired in an ASP.NET forum. However, code is most valuable when it is accompanied with related material (like a good description of a situation were the code is used). Providing additional perspectives of a matter may also be very usefull. An ASP.NET forum is not only about code either, I believe forum participants without any ASP.NET knowledge are welcome if they have other usefull stuff to contribute with.
I have given some tips to other users about the forum, it could be usefull for those seeking additional diskspace to read those tips.
*************************************************
If I am an administrator?
No, I am not a forum administrator for ASPSPIDER, or part of the staff here.

Hi Ahmed!
Thanks a lot for your long answer!
Indeed I'm not as faithful as you to this forum, but I think I'm among the members the most faithful to aspspider.net in general :) I'll try to get more involved in this forum, all the more since I got knowledge now.
As for my website, I've been working hard on make it as small as possible : I'm using a remote server to store the pictures my members post (thanks to FTP), I resize and compress those pictures... I'll add limit the number of pictures per webpage as well.
As for now, I'm particularly worrying about my database I can't attach/detach. Maybe the admin blocked that feature on purpose so that I stop using the free hosting :( And maybe they don't in your case because you are too active on the forum !! It's so frustrating :((((
As for you, I don't see your website when I click your link. What are the 60MB for??? lol
Thanks a lot anyway for your help! You should be admin :)
