We have restored our free educational hosting program. You may continue using our services to learn ASP.NET and do demos of your ASP.NET projects.

As a reminder, please do not use this free hosting for any critical applications.

We have added many changes to our free ASP.NET hosting programs:

1. All hosted pages will have a mandatory header added which says:

NOTICE:This website is hosted using AspSpider.com free educational hosting service. Do not provide any sensitive information through this website unless you trust the owner.

Any attempt to mess with this message will result in removing the hosting account.

2. We are logging and tracking a lot more information about the members who host their websites than we used to track in the past. The information we collect may include more details than most other normal websites do. We depend on a variety of tools and services to gather information about the users.

3. We do open and check the files and databases hosted on our server. This include automated as well as manual verification.

4. Suspecious files may be deleted without warning. We don't want to take chances based on some bitter experience in the past.

The above steps are taken to prevent fraud and abuse of our services. In the past, we landed in to lot of trouble because of the abusive websites hosted on our free ASP.NET hosting services, which included phishing sites, credit card fraud sites etc. We would work with law enforcement authorities to trace and track any such activities in our system.

We agree some of the above steps may appear too aggressive or infringing to your privacy, but unfortunately we do not have any other options. We considered other alternatives like charging a small amount to verify the user etc but finally we decided to continue the free service since we know most of our users are students and cannot afford to pay.

Thanks Tony for re-storing aspspider.

But what happened to existing sites, all removed ?

while login, it is asking for verification code. if click resend verification code and enter the code, it will ask to repair the website, which will delete all existing files.

is it like that ?

You need to repair our site since we marked all sites as Not Completed in order to capture certain additional information about the users.

The repair will not delete your existing files. Please let me know how it goes.

Yes Tony, once click the Repair button, it will create the virtual directory (status shows pending to complete). Then the files are gone....:-(

I double checked and tested myself. The only way you could lose the files is, you close your website and create a new one. If you do the Repair only, your files will remain.

Uhh... the header obviously doesn't match W3C standards (as well as every AspSpider site). I think I'm going to change hosting, especially due to these funny threats about tracking n' shit.

hi Tony, thanks for the concern.
Files are not a problem, I have back up.
The issue is now I uploaded the files, it is showing one access denied error, which was not there earlier. Can you please check this link.

I spent quite a good amount of time to figure out the problem and but could not find what is going wrong. The only option I can suggest is, create another account or switch to another domain. I can't think of any other way... I know it is not a good solution but can't think of anything else now.

Hi Tony,

Seems to be hung up on Creating the Virtual Directory...

I wonder if it is getting hung up trying to insert your banner  disclaimer into my .xap file... No idea how you would go about that.... Although if necessary, I could insert it using Expression Blend, so it would appear in the .xap.

Silverlight sites are going to be a bit tricky to insert your disclaimer into I think... Not impossible, but we will need to do some thinking about it.

BTW, the site seems to be working just fine from the outside... but I am wanting to add content and am thinking I should wait until it tells me the site is OK.

Please let me know how you want to proceed.

I am also using aspspider.net great hosting services for my Educational project , I also faced the same issue of verification code and virtual directory pending , but now Thank GOD , everything is fine and  up and my project running.

Still hung up trying to create Virtual directory according to status page, Everything seems to be working fine though. I uploaded some new content a few days ago abd it worked fine.

On another issue, I have a 6MB .Xap File I want to upload, but it keeps failing and telling me the file is too big... I need to get around this size limitation. How best to do this?
