Just a quick post: I made a backup of my site earlier today, so if mine is gone, can I just give you my zip file and you can extract it for me?

As soon as we are back to operational, we will do everything possible to help you. We will definitely extract the zip files for you.
Our current estimate to come back to normal operations is around 72 hours.

I think a refund of this months fees is warranted.
By my calculations, this would be about ... $0 :)
But seriously, I hope you manage to fix it without losing too much sleep.
Thanks, and good luck :)
Mike.

O well, good thing most of the data is still on my development machine. This is why you should make regular backups, people.
Wish aspspider.net a speedy recovery too.

We can let you create the folders and allow you to upload the files again.. that is a quick fix for us. But we need to figure out how this was hacked and that is why we are waiting.
We request our members to let us know if you are aware of any loop holes in the security.

Well this sucks, don't it!
Could we at least have a 404 message page detailing the problem, so that "our" users know the host has pulled the plug in order to investigate security issues?
A new version of my utility has been released today (great timing!) and all my prospective users will see when they try and buy a license is a generic "404 page can not be found" error, which doesn't give a good impression.
Good luck,
Cr1spy.

I wish users could edit their post. I accidentally hit the "send answer" button while posting my prrevious post. The grammar is wrong. It should have been: "why the server was hacked"

This means all the code that I wrote for my web service is now stolen or just deleted?

I wouldn't think that you uploaded the code. You would have uploaded the DLLs only, right? We are not certain it is stolen or deleted. Probably no hacker will bother to steal several thousand files and try to find which is useful.

I guess that just goes to show why you should _always_ back up everything in a the very minimum one other place. I usually go for two or three backups for critical data. I even do that at work.
I just signed on so I don't have a site yet but I hope everyone who lost data can bring it back somehow. Plus I wish for good luck to the hosts of this site in finding the cause and the perpetrator.

We have opened the member accounts now. If your files are lost, you can upload them again.
We have tightened all security loop holes we could identify with the help of experts. However, we are still investigating the root cause.
If you cannot afford to wait, go ahead and upload files. Don't forget to keep backups.
Once we complete our investigation, we will announce.

Phong,
We are sorry, we do not have any backups. We are considering upgrading our servers to have backup provisions, but we are not sure when we will have enough fund for it.
You can read more about our backup policy here -

Does this include new restrictions on FileSystemObject? .ldb files now appear in my database folder, and my database compactor script no longer works, as I cannot delete the databases.

I don't think you will have any problems with database compactor scripts. What kind of script you are using?

The
part listed there works; however, when you compact the database, you have to create a new database. Then I use FSO to delete the old one and rename the new one. The "delete the old one" step no longer works, as I get a "permission denied" error...

For those of us that use the starter kits that were hacked. Would you recommend that I deploy a starter kit and then upload the changed files, etc? or that I just create the new site, and upload all the files?

Unfortunately, you cannot re deploy the starter kits without creating the site. Follow the steps below:
1. create the site
2. delete all default files
3. deploy the starter kits
4. upload the changed files.
