Welcome to my homepage
Summary
My first experience with the Personal Web Site Starter Kit.
.NET Classes used :
I just downloaded the Personal Web Site Starter Kit from the ASP.NET web site. Here is my first error message: "Theme 'White' cannot be found in the application or global theme directories."
I am sure I can figure out this in a short time. I will update this article once I find the solution.
1 hour later:
OK, I found what the error is. It is the same thing you guessed - I did not read the documentation on how to use the PWS (Personal Web Site Starter Kit).
What I did was, I download it and installed. After installtion, I searched in the Programs menu to see if there is any shortcuts to open the starter kit. I could not find any. But, while installing I was smart enough to find where it is extracting the files. So, i went to the folder in my "Documents and Settings" and found the compressed files. I extracted them into a temp directory and tried to open the project in Visual Web Developer Express (VWD).
While extracting the compressed files, it did not create some of the sub folders. That is why I got the above error.
How to use Personal Web Site Starter Kit ?
For those who do not have the patient (like me) to go through the documentation, here is the trick!
1. Download PWS from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/starterkit/#personal
2. Install in your machine
3. Open VWD and select the menu "File > New Web Site". You can see a new template (Personal Web Site Starter Kit) added to your "New Web Site dialog box". Select it.
4. Run your site!

If you just want to fix the theme message, do the following:
Highlight your website within Visual Studio
Add New Item
Select Skin File
Name the Skin file White.skin
You will be prompted "Would you like to place the theme file
inside the 'App_Themes' folder?
Reply "Yes"
Now you have a white theme.
